Buy a Bat Box

Buy a bat box to support the animals at MRW and offer a safe haven to local bats.  Bat boxes should be placed 15 feet above ground, facing Southeast, and with at least 20 feet of open space surrounding it for bats to start flying.  You will be called when boxes are ready for pickup at MRW. We're sorry, but shipping is not available.

Adventure Day: Intro to Wildlife Rehabilitation

Are you children out of school for the summer and interested in wildlife?! Moraine Ridge Wildlife is offering a 2-hour, single day camp, where children are invited to our education center to learn about wildlife rehabilitation procedures and protocols. Students will get to hear about some of our most memorable stories, how staff help wildlife in need in Northern Indiana, and meet our live animal education ambassadors.

Registration is required for children aged 4-12 only, parents/guardians are able to attend for free. We ask that parents stay for the event. Our program is limited to 25 children at this time, however, a second day will be made available if that maximum limit is reached.

Festival of the Owls

Join us in celebration of our local owl populations, theri native habitats, and the natural history of owl species in Northwest Indiana. Meet and learn about MRW's permanent owl residents. Learn about different threats to owl species, what to do if you find an owlet, and the elements of a good owl habitat.

Honey Bee Awareness Day

Come celebrate local honey bee populations with the staff of MRW. Learn about the importance of honey bees to your garden and to the environment as a whole. Meet and lsiten to a presentation from a local bee keeper. Learn about threats to our local bee populations and what the environment would be like without bees.

Fall Open House & Supply Drive

Join us for a chance to meet wildlife and enjoy fun activities for all ages. The event features hands-on kids' activities, a bake sale, and information about wildlife species and how to help our wild neighbors. Visitors also can meet MRW's educational ambassador animals. Attendess are asked to bring an item to donate from our wishlist for wildlife. See our wishlist for donation ideas.

Fall Nocturnal Nights

October 28 | 5-8 p.m.

Join MRW for a fun evening celebrating nocturnal wildlife. Sit by the campfire and roast s'mores, and sip hot apple cider. Nocturnal crafts for kids will be available. Go on a nocturnal scavenger hunt and see who you can find prowling the forest surrounding MRW. Meet MRW's nocturnal wild animal ambassadors, including a Red-tailed hawk and Eastern screech owls.

Human Impacts on the Environment Seminar

Join the MRW staff for a discussion on how humans impact our native wildlife. We will discuss the different injuries animals receive due to co-existence with humans. Wildlife Hibernation Seminar
